The U.S. Postal Service has released the U.S. Flags stamp, which pays tribute to the American flag and its significance as a symbol of the nation. The stamp features three U.S. flags arranged in a circular formation, reminiscent of the flags encircling the Washington Monument. The flags are depicted from a low-angle perspective, appearing to billow in the wind, evoking a sense of honor and reverence.

Flag Day, established by President Woodrow Wilson in 1916 and officially designated by Congress in 1949, is celebrated on June 14 each year. The American flag holds great importance as a representation of the strength and spirit of the United States. It is often referred to by nicknames such as the “Stars and Stripes,” the “Star-Spangled Banner,” and “Old Glory.” Throughout history, the design of the flag has evolved, with the current version featuring 13 alternating red and white stripes symbolizing the original 13 colonies and a field of blue adorned with 50 white stars, representing each state in the Union.

The stamp was designed and illustrated by Laura Stutzman, with Ethel Kessler serving as the art director. As a Forever stamp, it holds the same value as the current First-Class Mail one-ounce price and can be used for any domestic mailing requiring that postage rate.
